I had been drooling over these awesome brown squirrel furniture for a while now. I finally have the perfect excuse to finally buy them. I love the fact that the color is a warm medium grey and the dark brown has a nice sheen to it.
I think the fact that the furniture is brown and that it’s really sturdy is a big plus. The brown also makes it look a little more like that of the squirrel in the photo and less like generic furniture.
The squirrels in the photo are a few of our friends at our favorite animal-design company, Woodland Screens. Their furniture is made of wood and they have a lot of squirrel influence. The squirrels are always on the lookout for treats and anything squirrel-related. They’re also known to follow the squirrels when they leave the house, and if you see them peeking out the window, you better run.
When we were growing up, squirrels were huge. They were large-headed, bushy-tailed, black-faced creatures with long, scraggly tails and bushy whiskers, and they were often seen with squirrel-like ears. However, they were not the main focus of our attention, and when they were not hunting, they were either chasing us or competing with us for our food. Their food, too, was an enormous mystery to us.
Squirrels are considered a waste of food and are often called “white people’s food.” In other words, squirrels are considered to be a nuisance. If you don’t like them, you can just chuck out their food, but that doesn’t seem to deter them from coming and eating it. In fact, the number of squirrels we see has actually declined dramatically in the last few years, and it’s not just kids that are eating them.
Squirrels are actually quite good for you, not to mention cute. I would also imagine that if they were smart enough to be able to recognize the pattern of a cookie, they’d be able to find a cookie in the trash, and perhaps it was part of some elaborate hoax.
In fact, the brown squirrels are actually smart cookie hunters, and it’s no coincidence that their number has dropped to the point that they could be successfully trained to spot and eat cookies. We’ve seen them catch cookies in a bag, and eat them with a spoon, but we’ve never seen them actually come up with the cookie themselves.

The brown squirrels are very much like the blue chip cookies we had in our childhood. In the early to mid-90s, when I was a kid, we had a brown squirrel called Bobble who would take a cookie and stuff it into his mouth. He was such a genius cookie-eating machine that he actually swallowed a cookie when an adult had just left his cookies out on the kitchen counter. It was so amazing to me.
Apparently, Bobble was a genius at cookies, and so he was used by a lot of people to hide things from their parents. The brown squirrels are really just a variation on the same idea. Brown squirrels are the same animal, but their brains are brown instead of blue.
