A smart city is a city that is highly networked, meaning that its connections are constantly changing and changing quickly. This can be done by building a smart infrastructure that is able to adjust itself on a minute-by-minute basis. It’s easy to see why we’ve built this infrastructure. The internet has been our communication system for the past few years so we’ve gotten our infrastructure to work by building the internet’s infrastructure. We built the infrastructure and it works great.
When we talk about smart cities, we talk about the idea of how we want to be connected. We talk about how we want to be able to react to any new information, whether that be an earthquake, a hurricane, or a flood. We talk about the various options we want to build out, from solar panels to water purification and so much more. To be able to react to the latest information and adjust the infrastructure as quickly as we like, we need smart infrastructure.
We can get that with the help of technology called confluence, which is sort of the bridge between the data centers and the network of connected devices. Confluence technology can connect the data center to the devices in the city that are connected to it, and it can even be used to create “virtual” data centers. This way we can start to build networks of connected devices so we can react to the latest information.

This is all pretty cool, but I think it’s also pretty creepy because it will eventually allow anyone to listen in on your conversations with your spouse or children. While it may be creepy, I think it’s also cool because it’s a great way to keep everyone informed.
