So how does a phone with a camera work? I know it’s not like the iPhone, but I’m sure you’ve heard of something like that. A camera has three main parts: lens, sensor and processor. These three parts are connected with wires to a computer which is what makes it a camera. A phone is a phone.
A camera has a lens and a sensor. The lens is used to focus the image onto a surface. The sensor is also used to gather image data into it’s memory. The processor is there to control the camera and convert the captured image data into a usable format.
That may sound like a lot of tech, but it all boils down to a simple idea, image processing. It’s a simple concept that makes photography so much more effective and easier. Image processing is the process of transforming an image from its raw, uncooked state to its final, processed state. It’s how we take the raw, unprocessed, raw data from a digital camera and turn it into something that can be used for something.
In other words, we capture the image, then apply some form of image processing to that image. The final image we can use to make something.
That said, there are two levels of technology. A true image processing machine is one that is capable of transforming an image into something that can be used for something. For example, if we wanted to create a logo for a company, we would send in a photo of a company logo and a company logo logo. This would take a certain amount of time, but it would be worth it because the final result wouldn’t be what the original (raw) logo was.
In this same vein, some forms of technology are not true images processing. They can create something without ever sending in a photo of anything. For example, the term “nanotechnology” is a generic name for a type of technology that involves the use of atomic structure. To make a nanotechnology, a person would need to send in a photo of a nanotechnology that has some structure, shape, or function that the original photo doesn’t.
