This interview was a must. This was my very favorite. I really enjoyed this. It was so refreshing to talk to someone who has been in the tech industry for decades and has seen the industry grow over the years. I feel like it is really important to be aware of trends, because the world is constantly changing.

I can’t help but notice that the interview was at a company that is still very much in its infancy. It was cool to see some of the older tech firms still standing, though.
When I was researching for this article, I found out that one of the most exciting times in the industry was the dot-com boom, back in the early 2000’s. That boom would end pretty quickly though, with the dot-com bust and subsequent recession that followed. The entire internet industry was hit hard, with countless sites going through the same thing. Today’s tech industry is still very much in its infancy, but it is slowly growing.

Today, the internet is more accessible than ever, but it has also become less “free”. You have to get on it and pay for access, and there’s no way to get around that. There are restrictions on what you can do with the web, but if you’re not on the web, you’re not going to see it.
It’s the same story for the big tech companies. Facebook, Google, and Microsoft all got into the business of internet access and internet-based services (as well as gaming, news, and advertising). But that wasn’t the full story. For example, when you buy a new computer, youre not just buying an internet connection; you’re buying a whole host of other equipment that adds to the complexity of your connection.
It’s the same story for Microsoft as it is for Apple. They dont sell computers, they sell services. They sell webpages that are basically portals into the world of Windows that enable you to take your computer from the living room to the office, or the kitchen to the bedroom, or wherever you have a computer. But the only way you can do that is if you pay Microsoft (or Apple) to add the necessary hardware to your computer.
The hardware is an essential part of your computer. When you buy a new laptop with an integrated hard drive, you have to decide whether you want the hard drive to be a hardware device, or software device. If you buy a laptop and decide to install Linux on it, the hardware device will be a hard drive, and vice versa.
