I work with my clients to help them learn how to use technology to accomplish their goals. My job is to help them get started, get their footing, and create the system that will make them successful.
This is where it gets tricky. Because of the way that all technology and systems work, you will need to learn a lot of different technologies. For example, there are ways to use online banking in a way that doesn’t require you to have a credit card. Or there are ways to create a new kind of software that doesn’t require a programmer to build. These skills don’t come as naturally to someone who has never had to actually learn a new technology.
And you most likely will need to invest more time in learning than just the technical skills. You will need to learn how to make money, learn how to market your products, learn how to negotiate a deal, learn how to analyze data, learn how to solve problems.
The software integrator business is the one that will require the most effort to make money. Even more so if your product is more than a little bit old fashioned.
I can’t stress enough that a business that’s going to need to learn the latest and greatest tools and tech, not to mention all the marketing, accounting, communications, and sales stuff you’ll need to do, is going to be a lot easier to go it alone. But you need a business partner. I like to think that in the end my business partner will be the one that I hire to make sure I’m on the right side of the law.
Most likely a good business partner is a person you trust enough to take on a project or two. You need a business partner who can work with you on the finer details. And that’s why I recommend hiring a consultant. A good one is someone who can tell you how you’re doing things and what your goals are, but also how you can do things better.
You’re probably looking for someone who will take the time to listen to what you’ve got to say and who will make suggestions on how to make it better. Someone who will also be willing to do whatever it takes to make sure you succeed.
This is why I love working with technology integrators. I know how to do a lot, but I am also not afraid to ask for help. With technology integrators, youll be able to work in an environment where youre not bound to a specific set of rules. You might only have to do things once, rather than twice. Youll also be able to work with other technologists who can help you to make your job easier.
Technologists in general are some of the most innovative people in the world and have the hardest time getting hired. The biggest problem is that tech professionals are often in the position of being the first person in their field to hire someone else. So when you have a tech that is more of a problem solver, you will need someone who solves problems. That’s where a good hiring manager comes in.
